History of the Institution
The establishment of “Kongu Polytechnic College” is the fulfillment of long cherished goal. The chief ideal that goaded a group of philanthropists has been the dissemination of technical knowledge.
The origin of the term “KONGU” dates back to putative race called Chera, who ruled the south of India in those days, Thus, the word “Kongu Vellalar” refers to community of people who are inhabitating predominantly in Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Karur and Namakkal Districts of Tamil Nadu.
The KONGU VELLALAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TRUST came into being on account of the continuous and magnanimous efforts of a group of illustrious men from various walks of life. The Trust adopted a resolution, which envisaged, the growth of Industry and Technology being the basic ground for occupation and prosperity. The Trust renders commendable service in the field of education for three decades by sponsoring Kongu Polytechnic College, Kongu Engineering College, Kongu Arts & Science College, Kongu Private Industrial Training Institute, Kongu National Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Kongu School of Architecture and Kongu Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College and Hospital.
